Celebrity Camilla Cabello has been an advocate for climate action for long time now. She uses her Instagram page @Camilla_Cabello as a way to express her ideas, opinions and feelings towards global warming, encourage her followers, the industry and the government to take action against global warming and share her love for nature and our planet.
Camilla Cabello presents an ecological identity (Light, 2000) through framing. She presents herself as an activist by opening up her platform to share the ideas and feelings of other activists as well as her own activism. Further, she shows herself as someone who lives sustainable. She does this by sharing pictures and content that show her connecting with nature, wearing thrifted shorts or growing her own vegetables. All language activate certain frames, as Lakoff (2010) explains. The words used by Cabello activate frames containing ecologically conscious ideas. Finally, she shares her appreciation and love for nature and the earth by sharing photos of animals and expressing it in the caption with posts.
