Mission Amazonia

Adapted from BGG: “Mission Amazonia is a strategic deckbuilding board game, in which players are part of a Brazilian team of rainforest protectors. From their headquarters (e.g. Pôrto Velho) they go on different missions north and south of the Amazon to curb the illegal exploitation of the rainforest. The poaching of exotic animal species, the prohibited logging of tropical timber or the poisoning of rivers through illegal gold mining constitute daily challenges. The race against time begins, and players need to collaborate effectively as a team and use their resources like vehicles, night vision devices, satellite images and GPS as well as skills wisely to slow down or even stop the extinction of species and the ongoing deforestation.

Players explore the Amazon rainforest on realistic maps (covering the states of Rondônia, Pará and Amazonas) in 10 chapters, which simulate the deforestation in 5-year steps starting from the late 1980s.
Players need to use their equipment and purchase new tools at the right time for maximum effect. The maps and new rules for every chapter are summarized in a 24-page chapter book. The 10+ hour campaign allows for players to identify as a group and adopt a collective conservationist mindset.
