Motif: Epidemic

An epidemic is an unexpected increase in the number of disease cases or health-related behaviors (such as smoking or obesity) in a specific geographical area, exceeding the expected occurrence. It doesn’t always have to be contagious, and can refer to both infectious diseases (like measles or polio) and other public health issues (like rising obesity rates).
