Marine Debris Tracker, “an open data citizen science movement”.
This app enables citizen scientists to track their debris collecting acts while contributing data on plastic pollution in their community, near water or on land. Data collected by this app is open to all. Especially, it is beneficial for researchers or policy makers to deliver data-driven insights and/or solutions for plastic pollution globally/locally. Citizen science projects as such aim not only to expand the data collection means and range, but also (if not more importantly) to arouse awareness and promote participation among the public, usually on topics that require collective effort to understand as well as to make a change.
